#237 Simple Country Tall Case

These cases, expertly drawn by George Bruno, are considered "typical" of Merrell or Lewis 30-hour clocks as were produced in Trumbull County. One case type is poplar or poplar and pine that is grained. The top of the bonnet has a flat, jig-sawn detail often also flanks the cheeks of the bonnet, like a simplified Chippendale looking glass frame. The bottom of the case is four plain boards with a scalloped, symmetrically cut out skirt. Stock #237
