Become a Volunteer at the American Clock & Watch Museum

Volunteers at the American Clock & Watch Museum, Inc. make a valuable contribution to the success of the museum while helping to preserve the rich clockmaking heritage of our state.  As a volunteer at our facility you do not need any previous museum experience or knowledge of clocks and watches.  Opportunities for volunteers are available in many facets of the museum and we invite you to contact us.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Volunteer Opportunities
YouTube Tour Volunteer-  We feel our visitors deserve a variety of options during their visit, including guided tours, self-guided tours, and audio tours to compliment what they see in our galleries.  The YouTube Audio Tour Volunteer will be creating multiple videos related to various topics such as telling time on the ocean, the history of standard time in the US, the history of the Mickey Mouse watch and other famous character watches…    These videos can be slides shows of our artifacts mixed with historic photographs, historic advertisements, interviews, or video of our clocks with an audio overlay.  The videos will be uploaded as chapters to our YouTube page.  The volunteer will also be asked to create QR code labels to hang periodically in the galleries that link to each YouTube chapter.  To apply, fill out the form below to schedule an interview with our staff.
Tour Guides- ACWM seeks volunteer tour guides for exhibition galleries during its open season, April-December.  Tour guides would be expected to learn the tour outline provided by the Education Department in order to share the history of the American clock and watch industry with its visitors.  Tours can take between 45 min and 1 1/2 hours depending on the size and interest of the group.  The museum conducts regular tours for the general public as well as special tours for groups that make reservations in advance.  Guides are expected to work 2-5 hours per month.  Volunteers should have an outgoing personality, a welcoming presence with a love for meeting new people!
Ambassadors- ACWM seeks volunteer ambassadors to help the museum at local events and venues.  Job would entail helping staff to greet visitors at the museum's booth at various trade shows and local events, helping with children's activities, welcoming guests during onsite events, and hanging posters around town to promote upcoming events. Included are open house days, our annual Wine Tasting event, the Big E expo in Springfield, MA, onsite workshops and educational programming, and outdoor festivals.  Hours would vary between 2-8 hours per month, depending upon the number of events scheduled and the availability of the volunteer.  Volunteers should have an outgoing personality, a welcoming presence with a love for meeting new people and attending local events.
Summer Gardener  ACWM seeks volunteers to help maintain the landscaping around the museum's property, including weeding and watering as needed. (note: this position does not include maintaining our sundial garden, which is maintained thanks to the support of the Bristol Garden Club).  Volunteer should enjoy spending time outdoors and have a basic knowledge of plants and flowers.  Great volunteer idea for anyone, including couples.
Thank you for contacting us. We will get back to you as soon as possible
